Horse Commons
About Horse Commons
Every horse has its people.
What this is
Horse Commons is a free, noncommercial social network built around horses. Every horse gets its own page; the people who own, ride, train, and care for it connect around that page. Members share updates and photos, follow the horses and barns they care about, and find each other by name.
Who it's for
- Horses — each one has a profile with its story, photos, show record, and the people around it.
- Owners and riders — a personal profile, your horses, and a feed of the barns and horses you follow.
- Trainers and barns — a barn page that brings together its horses, riders, and updates.
- The people who keep horses going — farriers, vets, haulers, and other local services, connected through the horses they serve.
How accounts work
Sign in with your email address. We send a one-tap link — there is no password to remember. Entering your email the first time creates your account. Accounts are for adults (18 or older); riders under 18 belong here as profiles that an adult manages, never as account holders.
Privacy and consent
- Your profile and any horse you add start private — only you can see them — until you switch them to public.
- Posting publicly makes the profile you post as public, so people can find who wrote it.
- Tagging someone else's horse, barn, or profile in a post needs that manager's approval before it shows on their page.
- Private profiles never appear in directories, search, the public feed, or connection maps.
Safety
Every post and profile has a Report control, and you can Block anyone to remove their posts from your feed. Reports go to the site's moderators, who can hide or remove content. Authors can edit or delete their own posts at any time.
Founding community
Horse Commons grew out of Setting Sun Equestrian in Northern Kentucky, whose horses and riders were the first pages here. It is run as a community service, not a business: no ads, no paid placement, no selling of member data.
